During the winter of 1981 Alfa Import Center had begun taking form in the basement of my father's 6 family home in Ridgewood. After purchasing countless crates full of miscellaneous Alfa inventory, specialized Alfa tooling, a pile of microfiche and some parts manuals from outgoing Alfa dealerships, Susan and I jumped into the Alfa repair business with both feet. Some of you may still remember my first engine hoist (a discarded jungle gym with a chain and hook draped over the top frame), the narrow driveway and our tiny basement. Somehow, we made it work.
In August of 1982, we had decided that we had grown to the point where we could no longer work out of such a primitive facility. It was then that we officially opened the Alfa Import Center at 953 Cypress Avenue, Ridgewood. When we saw the empty building, we couldn't believe how big it was! Through the years, we had continued to purchase more inventory and equipment, more tooling and more manuals. Our clientele has grown as quickly as our inventory, and our shop was shrinking once again.  Now, after 18 dedicated years of preserving, supporting and restoring Alfa Romeo's in the "carefully coordinated" Cypress Avenue shop, we are proud to announce that we have finally moved to a shop four times larger. Our new address is 981 Wyckoff Avenue, Ridgewood, Queens.
Our new location is centrally located between Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. There is convenient access to the 'L' train, which is only a 30-minute trip to/from the 14th Street station in NYC. It is still only minutes from the Jackie Robinson Parkway, the Belt Parkway and the Long Island Expressway as well.
This change will help to make our commitment to one of the finest marques that ever was (and ever will be) here in the United States, that much greater. With 6,000 square feet of parts and working space, we will be able to continue updating our inventory as well as being able to continue the personal, reliable service that we have always given to so many Alfa owners in the tri-state area.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our old and our new clients for supporting us through the years. It's only from the Alfisti that this was able to happen. In return we will continue to work with so many of you in ways that were not possible before.
