Welcome to the Breakfast Club

The initial meeting included two NY chapter members. Over the next several weeks the numbers grew to four Alfisti, then eight, then ten... Now we regularly get ten to twelve members and occasionally as many as eighteen for breakfast. The initial idea was to meet on sunny, summer days and shoot the breeze. It was an excuse to give every Alfa owner a reason to drive their Alfa on a regular basis. It has however, turned into a year round, weekly event! (Alfa's have gone to optional status during the snow and salt season.) It has become a comfortable addiction, much like our wonderful Alfa addiction.

Thanks to John DeGeorge, everyone who sends him their email address, gets a weekly reminder, usually on Thursdays. The weekly reminder also gives the recipient and heads up on any official AROC excursion that is on the calendar. Although the time is always 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, occasionally the diner location changes. We tend to choose different locations depending on whether or not an Alfa event is to follow. When we joined the Connecticut chapter last May, we decided to have breakfast right off of the parkway that we had to take to the event. We have time to eat, talk, and relax, without interfering with our days' plans on Sunday's when an Alfa event hasn't been scheduled.

The Alfisti Breakfast has become the think tank for many shared ideas. Each week we have an option to suggest and organize new events. It has also become a tech session at times. Other times it turns into a quick Italian lesson (At least, when Dan shows up.) We even have an unofficial "designated" parking area which turns the parking lot into a car show to boot!! It's given Alfa owners an opportunity get a feel for all the Alfa models available. I know George is a GT guy, but I saw him smiling as he checked out Mahmud's Spider. It has been an open door to mini-meetings and great Alfa inspiration.

From our weekly we have been able to organize many events. Already, there are a couple of interesting events slated for 2004. So if you're not doing anything this Sunday, send us your email address and you too can join the fun. We hope to see you there!
